New Electronic Travel Authorisation for the UK (ETA)

From 2 April 2025, EU citizens, including hauliers and drivers, will need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter the UK.

The authorisation is processed online only and can already be applied for from 5 March. It is recommended to apply at least 3 working days in advance of travel.

Requirements

Valid passport

Photo of the applicant  

Bank card for payment (payment is in pounds)

Validity

The ETA is valid for 2 years or until the passport expires. Once approved, it will be digitally linked to the passport, so no additional documentation is required when entering the UK. To avoid disappointment, apply for an ETA in good time.
